Chapati
Chapati
Chapati is a popular flatbread enjoyed in many East African countries, often served as a side to stews, curries, or vegetables. It’s crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and incredibly versatile.
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3/4 cup warm water (adjust as needed)
Extra flour for rolling
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
Gradually add warm water and knead until a smooth dough forms. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin circle on a floured surface.
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Place the rolled dough onto the hot pan and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until lightly golden and puffed.
Brush the cooked chapati with a little vegetable oil for added softness.
